Nevertheless, he has done it with a very peculiar camera; a <strong>Matrioska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These Russian wooden dolls are one of the most <strong>popular souvenirs in Prague<\/strong>, even if they bring bad memories among the local population, they absurdly resist over the years turning into football players or talented politicians, new faces that attract innocent tourists to buy them regularly, justifying their existence.<\/p>\n<p>As the artist states <em>the Matrioskas are a \u201cnon-object\u201d in Prague, a souvenir-toy looking for its place in the city<\/em>, for the delight of some confused tourists seeking typical objects to take back to their homes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_101\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/70.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101\" class=\"size-large wp-image-101\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/70-1024x724.jpg\" alt=\"Our Matrioskas seeking their place in Prague among presidents, players and VIPs\" width=\"1024\" height=\"724\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/70-1024x724.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/70-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/70-400x284.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/70-1080x764.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-101\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our Matrioskas seeking their place in Prague among presidents, players and VIPs<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But what really interested Jordi Llorella about these hollow dolls is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelbohoprague.org\/blog\/jordi-llorella-pinhole-photography-prague\/\">possibility to <strong>turn them into cameras through the pinhole technique<\/strong><\/a>. Actually it\u2019s an ideal object for doing so. Being a dark box with the option to open it, we just need to drill a small hole in one of its sides and put a tiny sheet of aluminum (from a soda can for example) perforated by a needle. This will be the diaphragm of the camera.
